What you can complain about
Anything published by Sox News that you believe breaches the editorial standards on this site. That includes accuracy, fairness, right of reply, labelling, sourcing, privacy, harm, conflicts of interest and the handling of a previous correction request.
A complaint is different from a disagreement with our declared convictions. We welcome argument, in public, and we answer it in the pieces themselves.

Stage one: the desk
The accountable editor for the piece reviews the complaint against the original sourcing and the standards. We aim to acknowledge within two working days and to respond substantively within ten working days. Where a complaint needs longer, we tell you why and give a date.
Possible outcomes at stage one: a correction, a clarification, an update, a retraction, an added right of reply, an amended label, an explanation of why the piece stands, or a combination.
Stage two: review by the Editor
If you are not satisfied, ask for a review by the Editor. The review is carried out by someone who was not the accountable editor for the piece wherever the desk allows it, and it looks at both the original piece and the handling of stage one. We aim to complete a stage two review within twenty working days.
What we log
Every complaint is logged with its date, the piece, the standard invoked, the outcome and the time taken. The log informs the standards review and is used internally to find recurring failures.
Vexatious and abusive complaints
We answer every genuine complaint. We reserve the right to decline to continue correspondence that is abusive, threatening, or that repeats a point already answered in full.
Legal claims
A complaint under this procedure is not a substitute for a legal remedy, and it does not extend or shorten any limitation period. Legal correspondence should say so plainly and be addressed to Sox Media LLC through the contact page.
No external regulator
Sox News is not currently a member of an external press regulator or a self regulatory scheme, so no external appeal route exists at this time. We will publish the details here if that changes.
