Who is responsible
Sox Media LLC, publisher of Sox News, is the controller of personal data collected through soxnews.net. Requests can be sent through the contact route below.
What we collect
- Newsletter email address. Only if you submit it. Used to send the Sox News email and nothing else.
- Server and delivery logs. Our hosting and content delivery providers record standard request data, including IP address, user agent, referring page and timestamp, for security, abuse prevention and reliability.
- Correspondence. If you write to us, we keep the message and our reply so we can handle the matter and keep a complaints and corrections record.
We do not collect special category data. We do not ask for your date of birth, your location or your political views.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not rent or share mailing lists.
- We do not run advertising trackers or third party advertising pixels on this site.
- We do not build behavioural profiles of readers for targeting.
Cookies
Sox News sets no advertising cookies and no cross site tracking cookies. Where a strictly necessary cookie is used for security or for a site preference, it exists for that purpose only. Embedded video is loaded from a no cookie player domain so that watching a clip does not attach tracking to your visit.
Third parties we rely on
- Hosting and delivery. Our pages, images and feeds are served by our hosting provider, which processes request data on our behalf.
- Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from third party font services, which receive the request needed to serve the file.
- Email delivery. If you subscribe, your address is processed by our email delivery provider for the sole purpose of sending the newsletter.
- Video. Where a video is embedded, the player is loaded from a privacy preserving player domain and its own terms apply once you press play.
Each provider acts on our instructions for the purpose described, and we do not authorise them to use your data for their own marketing.
Legal bases
Where the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies, we rely on consent for the newsletter, and on legitimate interests for security logging, abuse prevention and handling correspondence. Where United States state privacy law applies, we honour access, deletion and correction requests and we do not sell or share personal information.
Retention
- Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, then removed from the active list.
- Logs are kept for the period our providers apply for security and reliability, which is short.
- Correspondence connected to a correction or complaint is kept as part of the editorial record.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw consent to the newsletter at any time, or object to a particular use. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link. We will respond to a request within one month.
Children
Sox News is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under sixteen.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be shown by a new date at the top of this page.
