Australia and New Zealand have signed a new Innovation, Science and Technology Statement of Intent to deepen cooperation between Australia's Defence Science and Technology Group and New Zealand's Defence Science and Technology organisation.
The agreement sets three areas for cooperation: integration through experimentation, wargaming and interoperability work; upskilling through visits and personnel exchanges; and defence science partnering with industry and academia.
Australia's Chief Defence Scientist Tanya Monro and New Zealand's Chief Defence Scientist David Galligan signed the statement during the Five Eyes Science and Technology Principals meeting hosted by New Zealand. Both said the framework would help the two countries combine expertise and support national security.
